I know I shouldn’t whine, there are millions of other people in situations worse off than we are. Yes, it’s very frustrating to find myself in the same situation I was in last year at Christmas time – under-employed. I know there are millions of people who are UN-employed, so I should be thankful to at least be employed part time.
It’s all about the timing, it’s the holidays. Our plans to spend Thanksgiving with my family had to be canceled because of this. My neighbors already have all of their Christmas decorations out. Again, I have to find my Christmas Spirit and get our stuff out and up. It’s not about the stuff
This year we are going to try and focus on others. A friend of ours, whose financial situation makes us look rich, just found out that her husband has about a year to live. We are going to fulfill one of her simple wishes this Christmas, she has always wanted a Honey-Baked Ham. I think we have decided to get her a gift certificate and drive her to the store.
We’ll continue to grab the pre-packed grocery bags filled with food for others when we go to the grocery store. And we’ll continue to listen to hear if anyone else has a special need. Even if it’s a gift card to some place they have never been, we want to be able to try.
So even if I don’t get my wish for a benevolent benefactor to help us out of our situation, we will continue to try and share what we have with others. Even if that check for $100,000 doesn’t show up in our mailbox, we will be okay. Now if someone would like to offer me a great full-time job, I’m all ears. But the absolute best gift I could get for Christmas, is for my other daughters to talk to me again.
Love your spirit! And we are (James and I) firm believers in what goes around, comes around:) So similar to you, we like to share what we have, even if it’s not much at times!!! About the job situation – I have a double full time job with part time pay – sorry – no big help there…but I am willing to share some of the work, if you want it.
