August has been a long month. Last weekend we drove over to a family reunion on Jeff’s side in a small southeastern Georgia town. I’m still trying to figure out all the connections, genealogy was not something got into. That weekend brought the rains of Fay home with us. Definitely enjoying doing a whole lot of nothing over this three day weekend. College football has begun and the mania around here starts tomorrow evening with the TN/UCLA game. In the mean time, I’m enjoying my laptop and wireless connection to the fullest.
As I had mentioned before, I’ve been working pretty long hours because of circumstances related to the company I currently work for. We’re not sure if it’s the economy or what, but business just slowed down to a crawl. I knew taking a job with a startup business was a risk, but I thought it was worth it. I have always kept a resume online and get one or two pings a month. I also drop “hints’ when I can, but not many of the people I know locally need web developers. Last week, before we headed to Georgia a few things came together for me. Seems even the person I have been working for had dropped hints on my behalf and things have panned out in my favor. I will be starting a new job the 8th of September. I’ll either blog more about that here or maybe on one of my other blogs. I think I have too many blogs. The only comment I have is why is something I’ve been trying to achieve and work for so scary? Maybe it’s the starting anew, the 90 probation, having to prove myself all over and just the unknown expectations.
Megan has been working hard to get all of her certification paperwork together. She may have to figure out how to get a second dentist’s recommendation, which means she may have to do an second internship. While she waits for all of that to fall into place she’s taken a job as a cashier in a grocery store.
