I guess I should just give up on the pieces of my past that it seem my ex took delight in throwing away. I’ve asked Megan every now and then if she’s seen anything that might be some of “missing” things. But I know the answer – they are gone. My high school diploma, my yearbooks (and especially the photos I stored inside – the prints of the pictures I took for the yearbook), my college diploma, my Gamma Beta Phi Certificate of Merit, my Air Force awards…
I started this quest last year to try and replace them – like the college diploma (might as well give up on ever seeing my high school diploma), my Gamma Beta Phi Certificate of Merit, and my military awards. Losing my Air Force Commendation Medal has been the toughest – for some reason it wasn’t noted on my DD-214. I remember it being mailed to me when we lived in North Dakota. I was so shocked when I opened up that blue case and when I read the citation that accompanied the award.
So the list goes on and on of things my ex threw away or won’t give back to me. Don’t get me started on my mom’s silver flatware – I have been trying to get that back for years.
