Had a “strange” message left on my answering machine today. Someone was looking for D1. My first thought was how on earth did they come up with this number? So being the curious type, I called the number. I gave my name and said that a message had been left for “Daughter One”. He gave the names he had listed for D1 and asked my number. I gave him the number and explained how long ago it had been since I last spoke with her. He seemed surprized by that. He said that the number had been give as a relative’s number, but even stranger the name given was my husband’s!
So in the world of wierd and bizairre, I am still dead to my daughter but did she list him as her step-father? That would be ironic, that would make him a step-grandfather. But I have a gut feeling she didn’t give them our number or my husband’s name. I did return the favor and give the person I was speaking with my ex-husband’s cell phone number. I’ve had the number from some very old cell phone bills (when I used to pay for Megan’s cell phone). I’m sure that even doing that will be misconstrued as me not wanting to have anything to do with D1 or D2. On the contrary, if either daughter needed to us our number as a contact all they have to do is call and ask.
It’s been 10 years, I doubt that will happen any time soon…but I can continue to hope.
