Staying up past 2AM to get this new blog configured may not have been a wise idea – either that or I’m coming down with something. I still need to finish moving the posts from the last blog over to this one. I’ll have to keep an eye on how much server space it starts to take up.

More changes!
I can never leave “good enough” alone. I wasn’t completely happy with certain features of my blog so I went searching for something better. This blog will allow me to post via email – so I can add anything I want at any time of the day. I played with the AOLJournals for a few days – posting via Instant Messenger was cool but I don’t have access to it like I do email.
So give me a few days to get the old posts added to the new blog. I’m impressed that it was smart enough to get the archiving correct. The blog even has a spell checker and we all know I definately need that!!!
The down side to this blogger is that it’s all HTML pages. The last one I had was PHP posting and pulling from MySQL.

Worn out…
For a short week – it was still too long. I’ve got a project that I’ve been trying to wrap up since the end of March. I’m a very patient person but even this is starting to wear thin. I’ve explained on a number of occasions I am not a search engine expert – I know some of the ins and outs but the algorithms keep changing on a daily basis. I know what tools to recommend for the application I use but the final tweaking is up to the client. Well, it looks like I’m getting stuck with that too. I definitely underbid this job. I think I like being a sub-contractor better – less headaches.
I’m trying to plan something for Megan’s birthday. She wants to do a mother/daughter picture at Glamour Shots. Couple of problems with that, first of all there are no Glamour Shots in Birmingham. There is one in Nashville where she lives though. Since she wants to spend her birthday here with me, the original plan was to pick her up sometime around the 4th of July. Well, Jeff is making plans for us to go to Knoxville for the 4th. So Megan has suggested we come up to Nashville that Friday night and go to Glamour Shots Saturday morning. Then after we get done with the pictures, Jeff and I would head to Knoxville. Going to Knoxville via Nashville is “the long way†– it doesn’t matter to me, it would be a nice change of scenery but since Jeff isn’t fond of my driving (I drive the speed limit what can I say?), he would be doing most of the driving. I think I should suggest he do like we did in DC. I did all the driving there and he ignored in by playing a Gameboy. So, that’s only part of the problem, Jeff asked why not a family picture of the three of us? The thought has crossed my mind but Megan wanted to do the Glamour Shots thing. She had also mentioned just going to a portrait studio. Okay, so I have a lot to think about and try to balance out.
I’m still playing around with various blogging applications. I thought AOL’s instant message to blog was pretty clever, unfortunately I can’t access AIM during the day. I’ve been a big fan of Google and I forgot they had Blogger. I signed up for one of their accounts – I just figured out how to email my posts into it. I’ve had many times in the middle of the day that I just wanted to post my comments right then, now maybe I can. I’ll probably add it as an RSS feed until I get the feel for it.
Bowling and Bifocals
Wearing bifocals is not new to me – I got my first pair of progressive lens type bifocals almost five years ago. I made the mistake of getting the anti-glare coating on them – that scratched too easily. When I went back after that pair I tried contacts for a while but that was eye pain and headaches. So this time around I went with the progressive bifocals and transition type lenses. Right away I knew something wasn’t right, I noticed when I walked downstairs I was seeing the bifocal. I didn’t have that problem with the last pair. Then when driving just looking left or right I was seeing through the edge of the progressive lens. I had to wear the glasses half way down my nose just to drive.
Friday and Saturday were just too manic to go back to have the glasses checked. Saturday I spent 14 hours working with a client after a database conversion. So Monday I head back to Lenscrafter’s and try to explain my dilemma. Supposedly the measurements were correct for how they measure – from the center of the pupil. I didn’t have my old pair of bifocals; I had donated them to their eyeglass drive the last time I was there. I still had my sunglasses though and there truly was a measurable difference! My old bifocals had been measured from my lower eyelid not my pupil. So new measurements where taken and while I was there I took advantage of the 100% guarantee and got different frames –seem some new styles had come in just the past few days that I liked better.
The summer league started last night and it had been a while since I bowled with bifocals on. It probably would have been harder with the other pair. I suppose I should not have set a 219 average the first night – but what the heck it’s the summer and it’s a No-Tap league.
