Yesterday, I lost my job. But today is not about that. Today is the day we took our friend to get a Honey-Baked Ham. We first took her to lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant which just happens to be in the same shopping plaza as the Honey-Baked Ham store. Fortunately there wasn’t a huge crowd of people in the store so we didn’t have to stand in line long. While we wanted to experience to fun of picking out her own ham, I realized we should have done this for her, then we could have removed the pricing from the ham. She continually fretted over the price of the ham. We had a heavy-duty styrofoam shipping container that I wrapped in Christmas paper for her to keep the ham chilled until she could get it home.

Today was about friendship and doing something for a friend. Tomorrow she has to take her husband to the doctor. She will again have to face the mounting medical bills that she can’t pay and to worry about her brother who has lung cancer. She will continue to wait for her car to be repossessed.

Today was not for burdening others with my problems, tomorrow I will start looking for another job.
