Hotlanta

Monday, March 13th, 2006

Here in Atlanta for some Flash animation training. The hotel arrangements are very business friendly. Free wireless internet access, a very nice desk, more room than I’ll ever need, two beds and a hide-a-bed couch. The only negative is there is a musty smell that is attempting to be covered up with some other “fragrance”

The room, like most business type rooms, has an iron and ironing board. Above the iron is a sign: “Use iron on ironing board, not on the carpeted floor. While this may seem obvious, we have had many iron burns on the carpet and much charge the guests for damages.”

I managed to get about 5 hours of sleep – no furry four legged alarm clocks here either – sigh. Oh, and the beds have PINK sheets. My first thought was a red sock must have gotten loose in the wash.

So next up, the “continental” breakfast – should be interesting. I forgot to bring my diet cocoa so I could make my own mocha’s.

The Healing Power of Sisters and Ice Cream

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

Nothing like a long talk with my sister after having a mint chocolate chip waffle cone to make me feel better. The waffle cone itself was funny – we had ridden down to the father-in-law’s (on the motorcycle) to figure out what was wrong with his DVD player/TV hookup. After we got done there I wanted to stop for ice cream at Bruster’s – a neat old-fashioned sidewalk type ice cream stand. I swear the woman gave me 2 scoops – the thing melted faster than I could eat it so I had green stuff dripping everywhere. When I was done I tried to wash as much off as I could before we rode home.

When I got home I called my sister to touch base – since we have been planning to take a week off to drive up to DC in July it would be nice to start making some plans. Plus I sort of wanted to figure out what was going on – if you know what I mean. It was just nice to be able to talk to her and she made me feel really good when she told me to “keep doing what you’re doing” when it came to my blog. She even said she wanted me to show her how – it’s really easy – go to www.blogger.com and create an account :)

Thanks kid – this one’s for you!

There’s A Mole In Our Midst

Seems I underestimated my readership.

It’s like I’ve been told a million times – the truth hurts – and my point about the lines of communication being broken are so very true.

So folks, what’s really got you pissed? Do you enjoy hurting Megan like you have?

A Parent’s Joy

I am so proud of Megan. In the past month she has gotten her drivers license, sent off her ACT application, driven herself to go shopping – called me after she had finished shopping and said “Guess where I’m at? SONIC!!! – this is awesome!!!”, and now she has filled out 2 applications for a part-time job. Unfortunately, her favorite place – The Rainforest Cafe – required 2 years of experience. So today she filled out an application for The Banana Republic – they even talked to her for a few minutes, told they would pass her application on and if they wanted to talk to her more they would set up an interview. Way to go Megan!!! Friday, Megan orders her cap and gown for Graduation.

Ms. Fix-it

Boy somebody put a fire under me Sunday. It was a beautiful day out. I redug the hole for the climbing rose bush I had transplanted. I repaired the grill – replaced the burner and didn’t even blow my face off when I tested it. Bought a couple new rose bushes to plant – one orange, one white. Since the garden I’ve been working on has had that color scheme. I need to start a new rose garden with the lavenders I love so much.
